I don't know that you can top a day like today. First of all, it rained most of the night, which was perfect being that we were out in the middle of some of the most beautiful country you'll ever see. We even have a metal roof on our cabin for the added sound effect. This morning, it cleared up and was sunny and about 60 degrees.
We woke up and went to breakfast next door at the lodge around 8:30am. After breakfast, we met Greg(the owner) down at the barn to ride horses. Two other groups went out with other guides, but the 4 of us had Greg as our guide. Once we got saddled up, we took off for a 2 hour ride. The boys were ecstatic, because they got the horses they wanted, and Kelly had Greg's old horse. It was a great ride, but it got a little long for Collin. His horse kept stopping to graze and Collin was having a hard time stopping him. Other than that, we had a wonderful time.
We got back around lunch time and had sandwiches waiting for us. We sat in the shade, outside the lodge and had our lunch. After we had lunch, the boys played a little pool, while Kelly and I checked e-mail and then we all went down to the lake. Keegan, Collin and I took the row boats and tubes out and swam in the lake. We had a ball in the water, while Kelly sat on the shore and talked with some other guests. After we swam for a couple of hours, we came back to the cabin for the best part, a nap.
We had dinner around 6pm and then the boys and I played some more pool, threw horseshoes and threw the baseball. I mean, it really doesn't get any better than all of that in wonderful weather and scenery that looks like it was painted. Greg and I sat in the lodge later and had a beer while we listened to his music collection. Kelly and Greg's wife, Julie, hit it off and Kelly was able to give her some 'barter' ideas. Of course, we ended the day at the bondfire with some of the other guests.
In case it's not obvious, we're having an incredible time.
