We had a busy morning today. I got up around 7am and drove Riley to a Vet in Marysville.(about 45 minutes away) She'll stay there this weekend while we go to Olympic National Park and then over to Victoria Island, BC. The Vet is on barter, so she's going to get her 'ID chip' put in and get a few other things done. After I dropped her off, I drove back and met with a production company in Seattle that's updating my demo reel.(barter) After I got back from there, I went to workout while Kelly ran to a Dr's appointment to find out what's going on with her voice. Fortunately, it wasn't serious, but she does have some nodes on her vocal chords. She's going to have to really rest her voice for a couple of weeks. The boys offered to take a couple weeks off from homeschool. Actually, Ive been helping. They'll be very good basket weavers at the end of these 2 weeks:)

This afternoon we took the tour of Seattle's underground. This was an amazing story. The short version is that the town was originally built on mud. There was a fire in the early 1900's that basically burnt the town to the ground in 12 hours. The town said, "before we re-build let's take some fill from a mountain close by and build everything up." Many of the business owners didn't want to wait the 8 yrs they were told it would take. So, they went ahead and re-built on the mud. They told the town to just put the fill around their businesses. That's just what the town did...and suddenly the first floor of all of those businesses became basements. But, they also left the sidewalks underground also. We learned so much more about how they did it and how Seattle made so much money during the 'gold rush' even though they were hundreds of miles away from any strikes. If you ever get the chance, take the tour.

We stayed downtown for the 'Art walk' they have once a month. That wasn't that impressive, but we did visit an incredible 'glass art' store. They actually blow glass right in the store. We watched a guy blow this amazing glass bowl/vase. The boys loved it.
