It's a rainy, gloomy, cool day along the coast of Oregon near Florence. We slept in late to the sound of raindrops and squirrels running around on top of our RV.  The parade for the Rhody Fest starts at noon, so we headed out around 11:30 to get north of town before it starts. It was amazing to see all the people lining the streets in the rain for the big event...even the Budweiser Clydesdales were there.

Our drive along 101 was windy, but only took us about an hour to get up to our next state park...South Beach just 2 miles south of Newport. We were happily surprised again with a well-kept, clean, and green state park for only $22 a night. After we set up, we headed to Newport to explore one of the larger towns along the coast. That's not saying much since most of them are VERY small.

Keegan and Collin both finished reading Shrek 3 and were excited to see the movie. We found a movie theatre, Walmart, and Starbucks here...believe it or not, we haven't seen these for quite a few days in our travels. Chris and the boys went to the movie and I had a chance to grab coffee and catch up on the computer at Starbucks.

After the movie, we drove to the historic bay area to see the two clipper ships and to have a bite to eat at one of the local's favorite restaurants, Local Ocean Seafood. It's across from all the fishing boats in the marina and piles of "pots" for catching the fish. After dinner, we headed back to camp for a walk on the nature trail that led to the beach. It's raining again now, but supposed to clear by tomorrow morning. -Kelly
