Where I stayed
We homeschooled in the morning and the boys focused on memorizing their scriptures for Awana...one of their favorite things to do! They have a love to know God's word and we're working on the application part on a daily basis. After lunch we headed into beautiful San Francisco...only a 15 minute drive. The sun came out but it was windy and chilly in the Bay area.
Our first stop was the sea lions on Pier 39. There were hundreds just hanging out on the floating docks, making loud noises, shedding their fur (molting), and stinking. They are so fun to watch though. We walked around the pier area taste testing the mini donuts, chocolate potato chips, fresh fruit crepes (strawberries are in season here), and Chris tried some crab and oysters (too fishy for the boys and me)
One of our most memorable stops was by the Boudin Bakery to see the bakers making Sour Dough Bread right in front of our eyes. We had a great time talking with the Master Baker Ramon who interacts with you through the glass on a microphone system. He answered our questions while the bakers made a girl and boy teddy bear, alligator, and crab shaped sour dough bread. As we left he came out and gave the boys a mini shaped teddy bear to try.
We finished our SF experience today with dinner while we watched our favorite NBA team, The Jazz, beat the Houston Rockets in game 6 of the playoffs to tie the series 3-3. We'll be watching game 7 Saturday night to cheer The Jazz on. Keegan and Collin are big fans since they both played Jr. Jazz Basketball in Park City, UT this winter.
Tomorrow we're back in SF for a sailing trip around the bay (on barter) and a Giants baseball game...weather permitting. -Kelly
