PING...the factory tour for golfers in Phoenix!

Our day started with another factory tour to PING to see how they make golf clubs. Since Collin was too young, Chris and Keegan went on the two hour tour hearing how it all got started in Karsten's garage. An engineer by trade, he was frustrated with his golf club and tried to alter it to make it better. The most amazing feature of PING is how they can evaluate each golfer's swing using a color coded chart system and custom design clubs to fit each person. Amazing technology goes into it. Makes you wish you could afford a custom set of PING golf clubs!

After the PING tour, we drove my mom to her friend Doris' home who lives near Scottsdale so they could have lunch together. Chris, the boys, and I came upon the quaint Old Scottsdale area and had to stop and check it out. The area was a western theme with shops, restaurants, and lots of amazing art galleries. We had a terrific lunch at the "Sugar Bowl", an old fashioned ice cream soda shop that has been there for a long time. (see pics)

We walked in and out of some of the galleries for some art appreciation and sticker shock. Our favorite gallery by far was indian themed with the gifted works of artist by David McGary. His bronze indians are amazing with such detail and go up in price to over $100,000. (see pic) David dropped out of school when he was 16 and someone who recognized his artistic talent paid for him to go to Italy to school for a year and soon after that he started his well-known bronze indians and the rest is his fame and fortune!

After dinner in the RV, we were on our way to bowling with Grammy when our new friends from NC stopped by our RV to share traveling info and places to go on our future travels.
