Wow! This has been one of our best days so far!!! We headed out north from Phoenix today with my mom and the boys. After stopping at Mimi's Cafe for a terrific breakfast in north Phoenix, we drove about two hours to Montezuma Castle. It's a very neat cliff dwelling where prehistoric farmers, called the Sinaqua people, lived hundreds of years ago. It was amazing to see how they created their five story plus house using the side of a mountain, built rooms, and lived in large family groups.

Believe it or not, there was water nearby called the Beaver Creek that they used to water their crops. What happened to these people...no one really knows!

We then drove north and made a quick stop at the scenic overlook for a photo op with my mom. The drive into Sedona was truly beautiful with amazing red rock formations all around. We strolled along the uptown main street area to stop by Keegan and Collin's favorite candle making store and manager Ms. Angie.

We came here to go offroad riding in the famous Pink Jeep. Our driver Miss Rae took us on the ride of a lifetime (see photos) for two hours. The boys had a ball and grammy wasn't so happy we took her for the surprise ride. We went up and down some places where you had to close your eyes, pray, and hold on! Our late afternoon was highlighted by a drive on the Oak Creek Canyon, one of the top ten most scenic drives in America.

Of course, we couldn't leave Sedona without eating ribs again at The Cowboy Club. After a terrific dinner, we headed south two plus hours to our rv in Mesa.

You can't go to the Grand Canyon without a day trip to Sedona...highly recommend this stop!
