Day 1

After having breakfast at a local hot spot in Williams, AZ, we headed over to the train depot. We caught up with some of the cowboys from the area who ended up in a shoot out with the town Marshal.(see pic) We then boarded our train for a 2 hour train ride to the Grand Canyon. The ride went by quickly as we played 'Brain Quest' and listened to one of the cowboys play and sing.(see pic)

Entertainment

We arrived at the Grand Canyon around noon. It was even more spectacular than all of the pictures. The one thing we didn't count on was the cold. At 7,000ft it was not only windy but the high was in the 50's during the day and in the 20's at night. We had lunch at the El Tovar hotel, a historic Inn that has been visited by almost every US president since it was built in 1905.

After lunch, Kelly and the boys grabbed a cab and headed to the visitor center to watch the Imax film on the Grand Canyon.(the most watched Imax film) I felt it was important to check out the hotel accommodations, so I took a nap. At 5:00pm we took a sunset tour by bus. If it hadn't been by bus, I don't think we would have taken it, due too the cold. We were able to see the canyon from several different vantage points and hear some of the history. Unfortunately, it was pretty cloudy so our sunset was brief. We have been wanting to make this trip for a long time and the experience so far has been great.
