We have had a great time so far. Our stops have been spaced out so we have not driven more than 3 hours a day.(That will change when we leave Texas)
Baton Rouge was great as our other stops have been. It took us a little over 4 hours to get to Houston. We took our time and made a couple of stops.(Kelly's favorite thing to do). The boys home schooled for a while before we stopped for a factory tour in Avery Island, LA. We saw the one and only plant in the world that produces Tabasco brand hot sauces.(see pic) We were amazed to learn they actually allow the sauce to ferment in wooden barrels for up to 3 years before they bottle it. They produce 700,000 bottles per day. After the tour, we stopped in the gift shop and sample some Jalepeno ice cream. It was actually pretty good)
Kelly did all the driving today.(she did great), while I updated our journal. It wasn't easy with this stretch of I-10. The road was in such bad shape, I kept getting bounced out of my seat. We stopped at 'Johnny Carinos' country italian restaurant just inside Texas for dinner. Collin and I were having fun.(see pic) More thumbnails ...
