I love to travel.  This should come as no surprise to any of you who know me or who have been following us around the country.  The good news is that my spouse also enjoys traveling.  The bad news is that he is quite content to keep his travels to places he can drive to!  I have been on a long term 'campaign' to convince Ken to leave the house behind and to do some traveling overseas.  My argument has been that it is better to do this type of traveling while we are physically able to rather than later in life when we may be more limited.  It seems my years long campaign was finally making some inroads.

In my favor was the fact that we are currently on the east coast, making air travel to Europe shorter and less costly.  I also threw in the fact that I would be turning 50 soon and that a trip abroad would be a great way to celebrate.  Once I found a place to park the house, with someone to look after it, he really had no excuses left!

We are not 'tour' people but rather 'independent' travelers.  I found a tour company that offered exactly what we were looking for.  Monograms, provides assistance in booking lodging, transfers and airfare.  The lodgings all come with a full 'American' style breakfast each morning, a 1/2 day city overview tour on the first full day and access to a local, English speaking host at each city. This would prove to be the perfect company for us to travel with.

Once I had the tours picked and Ken on board it didn't take much effort to round up a couple of our traveling companions!  November 4 found Ken and I heading to Orlando International Airport for our overseas flight via Newark, NJ to Heathrow.  Our traveling companions, Larry & Sue Anderson along with Linda & Scott Trudeau, would be meeting us in London!

The last two days have been spent taking in the sites - mostly on foot, since our hotel is very conveniently located to the historic center of London.  London has long been on my 'short' list of places to visit and it really is a thrill beyond words for me to finally be here!
