I am not a fan of car racing.  But, then it dawned on me that I had never actually been to a race. Well, except for the dirt track that we went to a few years ago, I had only been subjected to having to watch the occasional race on TV.  So, being in the heart of NASCAR country I searched for a race to go to.  It seemed like the 'mature and responsible' thing to do, after all.  All it took was seeing Kens  face light up when I mentioned I had found a race to go to, to realize that I had done the right thing.

So, it was off to the South Boston Speedway.  Located about 40 miles from our campground it wasn't too far to go for an evening of racing.  We were given a 'tentative' schedule.  All I could understand on it was the number of laps each of the six races would contain.  After a quick chat with a friend who used to own a race car, I had a bit of a better understanding of what to expect.

So, what did I think of my first race.  It was fun and I would go to another race - maybe in about six months or so.  I certainly wouldn't plan my travels around attending races, but would go to one again if we happened to be close by.  Now that I have 'dipped my toe in the pool', so to speak, I've been told that the race we went to was just a 'baby step'.  Ken's Nascar buddies are convinced that with time and the right amount of pressure they can turn me into a fan of the 'big' boys!!  That remains to be seen......
