It started to rain today which gave Muncho Lake a completely different 'look'.  The rain didn't last for long and we were once again on the road under cloudy skies.  A couple of our group needed fuel and made a stop at the Northern Rockies Lodge which is located a short distance from last nights campground.  When they arrived they learned that the gas station opened at 3pm and gas would not be available until that time. Needless to say, things are a little different up here.  One can drive all day and pass fewer than a dozen cars.  Gas stations, restaurants and campgrounds can be hundreds of miles apart.  It really is one of our last great wildernesses.

Fortunately we only had a short 35 miles to go today - and there was a gas station in the area of todays destination. This is indeed a rarity.  Liard Hot Springs is, at least in our humble opinions, a not to be missed Alaska Highway highlight.  It is hard to believe that some pay caravans actually pass this right by.  But not the "Sairavan" - we arrived early and gave ourselves all day to enjoy this natural wonder.
