Where I stayed
Muncho Lake Provincial Park
Most pay caravans go from Dawson Creek to Fort Nelson. I remembered Fort Nelson as a lumber/mining & oil town and chose to skip staying there. It was actually a better looking place than I remembered from our previous trip and an overnight stay there would probably have been o.k. We did stop there to take a quick break and found a new visitor center with free internet service ( they provide the computers ) which was a pleasant surprise.
From Fort Nelson we made a quick stop at the Testa River services to pickup some cinnamon buns - for some reason these are a big deal north of the border and can be found at just about every campground/gas station & restaurant. Those of you who have traveled with us previously know that Ken will not pass up an opportunity to purchase home made baked goods.
Loaded up with cinnamon buns we pushed on to Muncho Lake. I only wish the pictures could do this area justice. The lake is 7 miles in length and 1 mile in width. The bluish green color of the water has been attributed to copper oxide leaching into the lake. It is truly spectacular and we managed to snag 5 lake front campsites at the MacDonald campground.
