First of all, welcome to our travel 'blog'.  If you've just stumbled upon us from somewhere out in cyberspace we wanted to take a moment to introduce ourselves to you.   We are Ann & Ken Sair.  We have been fulltime RV'ers since March of 2005.  In case you don't know what that means here is the basic definition.  We own no home and live instead in our RV.  Yep, we spend all our time in a home on wheels traveling around this amazing continent.
We are originally from the San Francisco Bay Area. Ken spent 33 years working for a municipal police department and was able to retire on his 50th birthday.  Ann has 22 years as a police/fire/911 dispatcher and quit her job on her 42nd birthday.  We sold the house, gave everything away and hit the road.  It was an easy decision for us but one that most people have a hard time understanding.

Making the decision easier for us was the fact that both sets of parents lived the fulltime lifestyle for a number of years.  Yes, we are 'second generation fulltimers', which I think makes us a bit unique in this lifestyle.  We had originally planned on staying out here on the road for about 5 years and than re-evaluating.  Well, that 5 year mark is coming up in March and we can honestly say that we have no plans of quitting.  If asked we couldn't even give a guess to when we will settle down again.

Being 'gypsies' gives us the opportunity to visit with friends and family who are scattered across the country.  We are also able to work on several 'lists', including visits to Major League Baseball Stadiums, National Parks, historic sites and  State Capitals.  We are constantly surprised by the beauty and diversity of this country we call home and hope to share some of our 'discoveries' with friends and family through this blog.

Now, to answer our two most frequently asked questions:

#1 - Don't you miss your kids?  The answer is, yes of course.  But Ken is in touch with his son and daughter on an almost daily basis.  Something that is completely different from when our folks were fulltiming in the days before cellphones and the internet.  When we were 'home' we hardly ever saw them and we all lived in the same city.  Now we have them come to us at least once a year.  They get a vacation from 'life' and we get some quality, uninterrupted time with them. And we are usually back in the Bay Area around one of the major holidays so we get to see them then as well.

#2 - Where do you spend the winter?  We don't have a favorite winter spot yet.  We've spent time in Arizona, Florida, California and Mexico.  No place has called out to us yet as a place we might want to settle into for a 'season'.  For now, we will just keep hopping around trying to find the perfect spot which is part of the fun of this lifestyle!
