As pig flu arrives in teh bay of plenty, i've departed ( this isn't the reason i've left, i'm just providing you with piece of trivia).

After a slightly later than planned last night in Tauranga i've managed to get up, get the bags on my bike, check out and with only a slight wobble set off into a lovely sunny morning remarkably only a tiny 25mins later than planned.

I cruised out of town past kiwi orchards and farms. It was great to be back on the road enjoying the flatish first 30km to Kiwi360, where I stopped to marvel at teh giant kiwi fruit, kiwi fruit themed shop and to get a cofee (it had been a late night and a early start).

The ladies in teh shop were even more excited about my trip than me, quizing me on details of my ride and being so enthusiastic that I left full fo pride and joy at there kind words Morning of departure

.

A few Km's down the road I turned off HW2 (truck central) onto HW33 (truck outskirts) and started teh variable climb towards Rotorua, it was a nice ride but after 60km's it started to rain and my lack of recent cycling or any real excursion was taking its tole.

I was greatful to arrive in Rotorua, my legs were tied adn although the rain had stoped the sky was still threating more cold rain (another horrid symtom of winter) but I made it, as did Bridget and Lorraine (who are also following the show) but came by bus for only $11 and in a speedy 1.5hrs but I did the 86km, averaging just over 15km/hr, which i'm happy with :)
