We're in Ade-laadiiee!!
Tuesday 23rd December - 2 sleeps until Christmas, Adelaide
Drove into Port Augusta after a lazy morning and strait to the library to go onto the internet and catch up for a few hours.  We brought some prawns for xmas day dinner then headed off towards Adelaide for another day driving although not as far as the previous days.

We stopped for the night in a carpark by the beach near Port Adelaide. Went for a lovely walk down the beach and then into the high street. Its reminded as very much of Brighton. We treated ourselves to chips which were scrummy.

Wednesday 24th December - one sleep until xmas, Adelaide Shores Caravan Park
From our free camping position we went for a run on the beach before breakfast and then headed over to the campsite to check in an sort out the van before we handed it over and got our new one.  Adelaide Shores Caravan Park was extremely well kept and had loads to do, especially for children.  We had a perfect pitch for the campervan right next to the camp kitchen, games and tv room and a stones throw from the pool 1 Port Augusta has best friendliest library in Oz

.  Right behind us was a huge jumping air pillow which we were itching to get a go, if only the kids would let us!

We were all exchanged and settling into our new home by lunch time, we had even managed to find a local library to check our emails.  The beach was now calling so we headed down the 25m path from the caravan park to have a sunbathe and swim for the afternoon.  Alex went for a long walk to the marina near by whilst Clare stayed to top her tan up.

After dinner we drove to the library to log on for free and call Laura G.  It was lovely to speak to her and then we headed back to camp for a couple of beers and tv before bed.

Thursday 25th December - Christmas in Adelaide
We felt a little cheated today as we woke to a dark and overcast sky, however we soon realised this was perfect as it was warm but not too hot.  Santa had come to all the children in the park and they were all playing with their new toys and bikes.  We didnt have presents to open as this trip is one huge present from Santa to both of us.

We had a big breakfast of fresh fruit and toast before we headed to the beach for a walk. We collected some shells to add to our dinner table and were lucky enough to see a dolphin swim close by the waters edge as it made it's way up the coast.

The parks went quiet as everyone began tucking into their xmas dinner, Clare started to prepare the dinner whilst Alex decorated the dinner table with our modest little tree and wrapping paper place mats! We sat down to a delicious lunch of barbecued pork fillet, veg and a bottle of Shiraz.

The rest of the afternoon was spent reading and relaxing or swimming in the sea with one or two beers to help along the way.  This interspersed with chats and Christmas wishes from friends and family from around the world.

Despite polishing off the Shiraz and numerous stubbies of Carlton Cold we managed to stumble down to the beach for sunset with a bottle of pink bubbly.  Bizarrely the only section of sky that the clouds didn't cover was where the sun was setting making it one of the most special sunsets of the year with our glasses of bubbly.  Very romantic!

Then we went back for tea of prawns (barbecued, Queensland green banana prawns) and salad - true ozzy style! A few more beers followed by cheese and biscuits, we were very drunk and stuffed with food. A sure sign of a good Christmas day.
