Where are the Elephants in Botswana?
Sunday 22nd February - Day 4 Bushmans to Elephant Sands, Botswana, Francistown, Nata (480km)
We are getting on really well as a 6 now, its great to meet such nice people who are not shy to be good friends quickly.  Francesca even jokes that as we only have 8 days together we have to fast track our friendship and so is already happy burping in front of us all.  We drove all morning today which meant we arrived at Elephant Sands campsite for a late lunch and lots of it.  We ate this overlooking a waterhole where we hope to see Elephants later in the day.  The afternoon was spent relaxing.  'Cesca' found a new man in her life, 'Frank' was a fungal infection on her neck that is growing.  Sarah C thinks this is probably due to the Doxycillin which she and I are taking as an antimalarial.  As it is such a strong antibiotic it kills even the friendly bacteria!

Dinner was lovely, but there was no time to sit around the fire pit.  The owner had offered all of us a free night game drive.  This was a real adventure as only a few hundred metres in one of the trucks stalled and couldn't restart.  Then as we were helping with a jump start our truck died too.  How hilarious stuck in Lion country with now means so starting the car!  We all had a good laugh over this and eventually the guide and mechanic got us back on the dirt path.  We didnt see any animals but the car in front stumbled over the rare sight of Wild Dogs on the road, by the time we went past we could hear, but not see them.

Monday 23rd February - Day 5 Elephant Sands to Thebe Camp, Chobe National Park, Kasane, Bush walk(300km)
At 6am we headed out on foot on bush walk with Blessed and two non English speaking guides as our intended guide had called off due to a bad tooth!  It was a long walk and we did see Giraffe and Zebra from a distance, but not much else.  The good thing though was that it was a good bit of exercise for us both.

We then left and headed for the border, finally we saw our Elephants.  Blessed stopped quickly when he say a group of three elephants drinking from a water holed by the side of the road.  It was an awesome experience watching them on the white sand drinking from the blue pool of water, everyone took lots of pictures.  Further on another two elephants were just beside the road very close but nervous of us.

We had decided to skip the river cruise so stayed behind with Francesca, Chris and the two Sarahs in Thebe Camp.  We had a lovely evening and Blessed cooked a huge meaty feast of lamb chops and boerewors.
