Where I stayed

Flag of Ireland  , Dublin,
Monday, October 26, 2009

So after a 6am wake-up call Kelly and I headed out to the airport to catch our flight to Dublin. I was so excited I could barley stand it. Like Paris, it was somewhere that I have always wanted to see. I have heard stories about Ireland and the people and they really did not disappoint. Kelly and I ventured to the Temple Bar in the evening time where I had my first Guinness and watched American football amongst the drunken Irish. It could not have been better and then an Irish band came on. Later in the evening, after being hit on numerous times by older gentleman, a younger Irish man came up to me and informed me that he was the token Irish man that I was supposed to meet while I was on exchange like in the movie PS. I Love You. Then he bid me farewell, not before asking (slurring) me to dance, and kissed me on the cheek.
The next day, Kelly and I went to the Guinness Storehouse and then made our way to the bus stop to Cork where we were going to visit our friend Gabby. As we walked the streets of Dublin we were delighted by the music and coincidentally the Dublin Marathon was going on. This made for great people watching as we sat with our backpacks on the street corner pinching ourselves.
I so badly wanted to stay awake on the bus to see the Irish countryside, but I literally could not keep my eyes open. So the four hour bus ride passed by smoothly and then we made our way to Gabby's dorm and then proceeded to shower and get ready for our night out in Cork. It was Jazz week in Cork and we danced the night away to a live jazz band. It was beyond wonderful. The next day we decided better of our plans to venture outside in the rain and cold and stayed home and had a girls day consisting of movie watching marathons and chocolate. It was just splendid. The next morning Kelly and I were off to Amsterdam!
