Montecarlo, Nice and Cannes. Wow.

My weekend started out just amazing. On Wednesday, my fourth and final roommate arrived in Milano. He had been doing an internship with a company in his city. To welcome him and celebrate all of the roommates finally being together, my roommate Corrine made homemade pizza and Pizza Frite! About four other of their Italian friends came over as well. It was wonderful! The next evening Christina came over so that we could go get some gelato. I have become friends with my roommate Mario's girlfriend who is just a gem, and she told us we had to go to this place called "the columns" which was right by the gelato place we wanted to go to. For the first time Christina and I navigated our way without getting lost! The gelato was amazing and as we walked down and explored the area we found it to be a meeting place for young Italians. It kinda reminded me of lunch time at Cathedral, how students would sit in small groups and walk around and join different groups. A place to see an to be seen. It was incredible, I felt right at home. The next morning we had to get up at 6am to catch our bus to Montecarlo. I had accidently turned off my alarm, instead of hitting snooze, and woke up to Christina calling me asking where I was. Thank goodness I packed the night before, I got changed as quickly as I could, and ran to Bocconi to find the bus to be 40 minutes late.
But, off we went on our 4 hour bus ride which I tried to sleep most of the way. When I get back to the states, traveling is going to be nothing for me. We made it to Montecarlo around noon and went on a walking tour of the city and got to see the world famous Montecarlo Casino. I have never in my life seen more Lamborginis, Ferraris, and Porches. We would try to guess what color the next Ferrari would be that we saw. I believe there are more luxury cars in the tiny town of Monaco than all of the United States. The girls and I then went around to an overlook point and took some pictures and enjoyed each other's company. At six it was time to go to Nice where we would be getting dinner and staying the night. Three girls showered and got ready in an hour, a huge accomplishment if I say so myself and we were off on the public bus to the Old Town in Nice. We got a great dinner and went to a small bar afterward where there was live music. Once we got tired of that, we went wandering around the city and stumbled upon a salsa bar. We went in and got our salsa on. It was a great crowd, quirky, french and international students all intermingling. We made our way back to our hotel and got a much needed rest. Cannes reminded me a lot of San Diego. In the hours that we were there, I fell in love. I have to go back. They have a boardwalk right by the water which reminded me a lot of Sea Port Village and a plethora of palm trees.
The next morning we were off to a day at the beach at Cannes. I was so excited to get into the Mediterranean I could barely stand it. So after a quick tour and a million pictures we finally made it to the beach. I couldn't get into my bikini fast enough and jumped in the water. It was exactly what I needed. I felt so relaxed just lying in the sun, getting my Vitamin D fix. Before we knew it, it was time to head back. I felt so at peace on the French Riviera, it exudes some kind of positive energy that cannot be explained. On the bus ride home, Christina and I chatted about our great trip, love, life, the importance of family, and our aspirations. I feel like I just got a taste and definitely have to go back for a longer period of time! I'll let the pictures tell the rest of the story.
Wish you all were here with me.
