Hi everyone,
Arrived safely into Kuala Lumpar last Monday. Air Asia (equivalent of Ryanair) was on time so no worries at all. Only issue is the "low cost" terminal is not attached to the main airport but transport is provided so it was fine after we found the bus! Got the express train from the international airport into the central train station, then a quick taxi to our hotel. Fabulous hotel, booked it from Dublin before we left for a special internet rate and are not disappointed at all. On the 26th Floor so have a view of the Petronas towers. Really centrally located just off the main street, can basically walk everywhere in the city. KL is a strange place, such a mix of east and west. High rise towers, neon lights, monorail around the city, western restaurants, McDonalds and starbucks on every corner, huge shopping malls and then the authentic China town, Little India and the Colonial quarter. Took a little bit of getting used to after the jungle!! But really enjoying it now, spent the first few days wandering round getting a feel for the city. The shopping malls are unreal, absolutely huge, one even has a rollercoaster in it.
Paul took a trip up the Petronas towers, loads of photos attached and we also went on a tour to a traditional claypot making factory, a monkey sanctuary (where Lisa got very friendly with a silver tailed monkey who wanted a piggyback) and a firefly colony which was amazing. Eating very well, Lebanese last night so finally expanding our tastebuds. Off to Chinatown this evening where you can buy fake everything, bags, tee-shirts etc. We can not carry any more in our rucksacks so may be sending a parcel home, bargains are too good to miss... Off to the Cameron Highlands on Monday morning. It's about 5 hours by bus away from KL in the mountains with old colonial mansions and tea plantations, plus the temperature is supposed to be 10 degrees lower, thank goodness!

Love the pictures especially the latest. Have printed some to show my friends. Can't compete with Kuala Lumpur but off to Belfast on Thursday with group. I like Paul's new car! Love always, Mum & Dad xx
