If you are staying in Kathmandu Valley and want see the sun rising over the Himalayan Mountain range, why get up at 4 in the morning to see it, specially if you are asked to drive 1 to 1 ½ hours to get there ? Who knows the town you select  (like Nagarkot or its vicinity) may be a full 30 or more  kilometers away?.....or you may get stuck in heavy traffic and be delayed?  Finally those hotels that widely advertise sunrise or sunsets are often very expensive.  It is okay if the weather is good.....but what happens if there is fog or rain, and no view to look at?  Who can expect the hotel reimburse you?

After all,  it is not  the SAME SUN?  So here is an easier and cheaper solution for you to consider:

1.   You see the sunrise from atop Chobhar Hill Village (ALT 1420 metres, high enough!)

2.   Instead of driving 30 or more kms, you drive only 8 kms - 20 minutes from Kathmandu to Chobhar Village

3.   In that case, you will spend the night in Chobhar Village Resort Hotel, which is recommended in "Lonely Planet" guidebook.

4.   In Chobhar's unique Hidden Paradise of Peace and Quiet, you do not have to rush, and you can get up at a more reasonable hour, without being corralled into a bus!  Fresh air and no noise guaranteed.

5.   To enable you to see the glorious sunrise, our Hotel Manager, will make special arrangements with the Buddhist monks next door and get their  authorization for you to see the  sunrise from the highest terrasse roof of Chobhar Buddhist Monastery (ALT 1450 metres apx) the following morning.

6.   By spending the night in CHOBHAR VILLAGE RESORT HOTEL, the walk from the hotel to the Monastery is exactly 5 minutes!  All of this can be accomplished leisurely and at the hour YOU choose.

FOR MORE INFORMATION ABOUT SUNRISE AND PANORAMIC VIEWS FROM ATOP CHOBHAR MONASTERY,  CONTACT OUR MANAGER, SHANKAR DHITAL, ON 4 333 555   THE MONASTERY WILL NOT CHARGE FOR ENTRY OR IF YOU TAKE PHOTOGRAPHS.

SUMMARY OF ADVANTAGES (with major savings of time and money)

1.   CHOBHAR IS  SO MUCH CLOSER TO THE CAPITAL OF KATHMANDU THAN SOME OF THESE HIGHLY TOUTED PLACES THAT WILL BE PROPOSED TO YOU BY OTHERS.

2.   THE ROOM WILL COST YOU LESS AND YOU SPEND A NIGHT IN A  CHARMING FULLY RENOVATED 200 YEAR OLD STONEHOUSE, WITH AMERICAN STANDARD CONVENIENCES.

3.   CHOBHAR RESORT HOTEL ROOM RATES ARE POSTED AND ARE VERY REASONABLE.

4.   EASY ACCESS BY CAR FROM THE CAPITAL OF KATHMANDU (20 MINUTES)

5.   CHOBAHR VILLAGE RESORT HOTEL HAS PANORAMIC VIEWS.  (sunset views are not proposed at the Monastery, so as not to disturb the monks and their prayers at that hour) But you can see the sunset from our Hotel's many terraces, if you arrive the evening before)

LOCATION IS NEAR KIRTIPUR, IN CHOBHAR HILL VILLAGE,   ON THE ROAD TO PHARPING AND DAKSHINKALI  ( ONLY 8KMS FROM THE CAPITAL OF KATHMANDU)
