We arrived back in Hanoi from Halong Bay late afternoon, perfect timing for picking up our luggage at Hotel Elegance2 where we'd left it and getting some nice salad rolls made up for tea on the train...(did I mention the great bagettes in Hanoi...hmmm those french bakers really left their mark!)

Our sleeper train carriage (1st class) has 4 berths and is airconditioned.

Our 2 travelling companions turned out to be a Gecko Adventure tour guide (Intrepid's competitor) and his friend which was fun as they had perfect english and were used to foreigners.

The guides group, mostly Aussies were in the next carriage and in full party mode for New Years Eve.

Rob and I in usual New Year Eve fashion ended up falling asleep before midnight.

Happy New Year to all ...and onto Danang Station for Hoi An.

We arrived Danang around 11am and the hotel pickup was there as arranged. A forty minute trip to HoiAn and we were all checked in by miday - looks like a lovely town.. 4 nights here so time to relax.
