Great start to our holiday with Dave and Sandra driving 4 hours to suprise us with a knock on the door to tell us they were taking us to the airport for our midnight flight (and then they had to drive 3 hours home!!!) - thats what I call a friend!! (or sister?!)

Hanoi is a lovely city. We stayed in the heart of the old city which has lovely old french buildings (tall and so skinny), lots of trees and not many cars. (mostly motorbikes as the cars know that the old city has skinny streets so tend to go around rather than thru the area).

We spent the days wandering around the different areas, and seeing all the historical sights - many very french and beautifully built.

Then there was the shops and markets... Vietnam is sooooo cheap - EVERYTHING costs a dollar (US$ that is - which is getting close to tha Oz$ anyway..hee hee).

One dollar! - now everyone knows that's my sort of shopping..hee hee
