We left our tea house (Hotel Hill Ton - yep that was its real name..) at 8.30am heading back towards Jomsom. The weather was much better with partial views but still cold! Rob plodded along and looked to be doing it tough but kept a good pace just the same. It was back to the rocky Kali Gandaki but at least flat for Rob so we reached Jomsom after about 1 and half hours which was good timing for us. We stopped for some tea and chocolate cake (no hope of loosing weight on this trek...sigh) Jomsom has statelite internet - espensive but I wanted to use the last chance to check in to home. No emails from family - so good but received an email from Sandra about Sam. Had to go and tell Rob. Very upsetting walk down to Marpha.
We arrived early afternoon and as the books and net say its a lovely town. This town is also Tibetean ancestery (all this area is primarily Tibetean) and so the buildings are tibetean design
After lunch we went for a walk around Marpha with Rame. Some little shops all with Tiveaten things for sale. Brought a couple fo things but cant seem to get into bargaining like in India so dont like buying anything as I know Im paying too much.. Im such a scab.... it must be the way the nepalese act cos I cant go in for the kill with the shopping so Ive tended to avoid it... must change my state of mind before the trips over!!!
The usual evening around the warm table and Rob taught Rame how to play 'round the board" in darts. All was going well until the nightly 3 hour power shutdown. At this time the 'boys' were well into the game and in boy competative mode... so what to do??.... continue playing with a torch! One would aim the torch at the board while the other threw the darts - desperate hey!!??
Tomorrow ..Kalopani....

01 Approaching Marpha
. All the streets are cobbled. Its the prime apple region so many apple orchards surround the lovely town. Its just a picture book town. In my notes that Ive cut from peoples travel diaries of Nepal I had written that the Neeru GH has one room with its own electric hot water system - LOOK OUT HERE WE COME... hot water! Just what Robs back needs. We found the place and sure enough room is exactly at the travelogue described right down to the pink western toilet and pink tiles...$4.50AU..ouch.... ripp off but its for a good cause. Then it was chicken curry time (Nepalese curries are mild so good for me) The system with the porter guides is that after we order our food then they get called to the kitchen for their free dahl baht. So if we stay in our room or skip a meal then Rame doesnt get anything (unless he buys it) We forgot this and poor Rame had had to wait and as soon as we ordered a voice started screaming from the kitchen Rame Rame for him to come eat - made us smile. After lunch we went for a walk around Marpha with Rame.
