There are times when you are reminded why you travel. Some places just have this feel, this vibe that just jumps out and grabs you by the you know whats and won't let go. Not all places have this. Hell, very few do.

The Serengetti has it.

If you ever have the opportuntiy to safari in the Serengetti, do not miss it! Seeing the sites here is what travel is all about. Words cannot discribe nor do justice to the view, the animals, the feel. It's being alive.

We arrived in Arusha to search for a safari and trekking company as few were in Dar and none seemed trustworth. We chose Sunny Safari and were not disapointed. Our guide Martin was quiet but sharp and he warmed up by the end of the trip. Our cook, Nruu did a great job keeping us fed and watered. We were joined on our trip by Tim and Ana whom we met in Dar. These guys are great and really added to our Safari. Keep safe on your jouneys guys!

We did a 4 day 3 night safari. We camped 2 nights in the Serengetti and 1 night in Nurongoro(sp?) crater. We were just in time to catch the end of the grand Migration and the area was full of Zebra and Wildabeast, Elephants and Lions and everything in between. We even saw cheetahs and a Lion kill up close and personal. What can I say, you have to see the picture to believe it and even then it won't do the place justice.

With every great event there must also be disapointments. Once again Kiliminjaro has escaped my boot prints. Not having the proper climbing gear and not being able to find any in Arusha and add Rachel coming down with a bad head cold we decided to cancel our Kili attempt. I will not be denied and I will be back, and soon, to climb the highest peak in Africa. Just you wait!

Safari out of the way, we're headed back to Dar and then to the beaches of Zanzibar for some much needed R&R.

See you at the beach!
