The Queenstown Brown Trouser Experience

Sunday 15th January 2011

1015 in the forenoon.

As our final Queenstown experience we decided to ride the Shotover jet boat.  This is a very sturdy craft that takes passengers at high speed down and up a river that flows through a rocky gorge.  It is very exciting and exceedingly scary.  You also get very wet.  I have purchased the photo pack and the three minute video of our trip so when we get home you will all be able to watch the look of abject terror on my face as we zoom toward rocks and miss trees by inches.  The many 360degree spin turns ensure that you get soaked.  They do supply you with waterproof coats so its mainly your head and hair that gets wet.  The good lady wife found her hair somewhat deranged by the whole experience.

It is excellent fun and if ever you come to Queenstown you must take this trip.

No photos as you cannot safely take a camera with you.

When we return to Christchurch I will download some photos from our CD and post them on the blog some time after the 26th of this month.

Time for a shower.

Phew!!  I am still alive.

1700 in the afternoon

We decided to treat ourselves to a very fine lunch, with lots of drink.  Highly reprehensible but very enjoyable.

Early night tonight as we have a mountainous 400km journey to Franz Joseph Glacier tomorrow.

We have just passed 2000 accesses to this site, once again I am flattered.
