Mendoza city in Mendoza state is pretty much an outdoor activity spot. Did mountain climbing 2500m to 3250m 7km round trip and nearly died, very tough going and of coarse we were fully prepared for the elements with our runners jeans or tracksuits and the likes. At least they gave us snow boots and a packed lunch. The views from the top were pretty nice. If you want to read more on the excursion check Ray`s bebo page. Did a full day of winery touring and tasting followed by a dinner which lasted hours and came with all the wine you could possibly drink. Needless to say I had a few, bottles. Merlot is the main argentinian wine, Point Noir is another main one. All red. Two of the winerys we went to were B.c.u. (the initials of the founders, can`t remember for love nor money the names) and Vina el Cerno. The B.c.u. have a capacity for 4 million litres of wine. Went to a liquor distillery too where they make Grappa, bloody strong tack so it is! Next day was followed by mountainbikeing (ray fell and ripped a hole in his only pants ha ha ha ha) and then whitewater rafting with a Korean family down the Mendoza river
Poor Sean ate something that gave him the gawlks and the poor fella was pissin through his ass for a few days so he didn`t get any of the activities done and had to stay in the hostel for three days.
See the irrigation channel in the photo, there everywhere in Mendoza. There a damn death trap too. In Ire there'd be about 10 people found dead in them every morning after drunken expeditions.
...On the bike tour
. The grade was only two on the day so things were pretty calm and there were no casulties which would have made things more exciting. Chow che as in the photos was our guide/captain of the raft. He was the happiest looking fellow ever, sound skin. No photos of rafting caus camera could get wet, your man that looks like Aidan took loads of photos tho so got them on a CD. He`s italian, followed his wife over here. He does 7 to 10 day tours over the Andes during the summer with horses and muels, works out at 400 to 500 euro for the trip, pretty sweet I`d say!Poor Sean ate something that gave him the gawlks and the poor fella was pissin through his ass for a few days so he didn`t get any of the activities done and had to stay in the hostel for three days.
