Hello all!

We have decided to create a blog to outline our travel adventures.  While the main focus will be on our 2.5 month trip to South America, we have also just returned from a fantastic one week trip to Germany, so we'll start off with some fun tidbits here.

We landed in Frankfurt the morning of January 5th and hopped onto a train to Cologne.  We arrived at our hotel, and there was a message waiting for us that our friends from Cologne would be there to pick us up in 10 minutes!  After about 9 hours of traveling overnight, we definitely needed a shower!  So we got ready very quickly and then headed out for the day with our German friends, Sebastian, Mel & Oliver.

They were great hosts and took us around the town of Cologne.  We walked up many many stairs in one of the most breath-taking cathedrals we've ever seen.  We had typical German appetizers with bread and cheese, I had a potatoe soup and Mike had goulash.  Mmmm!  That night we headed off for the best schnitzel ever!  It was literally too big to fit on our plates and came with your choice of yummy sauces.  We were given our very own schnitzel passports from the restaurant, where for every 12 schnitzels you eat, you get one free.  Not likely for us, but some good laughs!  Overall a great day in the city!

The next day, since we missed a night of sleep with our flight, we woke up at noon!  Whooops.  But, since Cologne was quite small and we had done so much touring the day before, we decided to have a nice relaxing day going to the Chocolate museum.  Mmmmmm....some amazing chocolate!  We prepared to catch the train the next morning to Hamburg...
