We hopped on a 4 hour train Thursday morning heading for Hamburg.  We arrived and were instantly impressed with the city...very beautiful.  We found our hotel in a great area of town right amidst tons of shopping (Shannon already wishing for more time).  We got in touch with another friend from EADA, Friedrich and made plans for dinner that night.

We went to a great typical German restaurant and tried all kinds of very interesting food.  Some beef tartare with an egg, onions (can´t remember the German name for it!).  We also got a certificate for eating this, it seems this is a popular thing to do in Germany!?

The following day we did a cruise around the canals although because of the off-season it was only available in German.  So, needless to say we were just there for the scenery!  There was tons of ice in the canal and it made Shannon a bit nervous since we were only in a small boat, but we made it.  Overall pretty cool going through the big Port, etc.  That afternoon we met up with Friedrich again for a really nice walk around the Alster (really nice small lake in the middle of the city).  We stopped for a late lunch and had some yummy soup and beers.  We said goodbye to Friedrich after a great visit.

That evening we ventured off to the Red Light District of Hamburg.  Enough said.  :)  Ha ha!

The next morning we hopped on a high-speed train (just 1.5 hours) to snowy, Berlin - the city we´ve had on our list since we moved to Barcelona.
