Aside - As Capetonians would know a "motjie" (pronounced "mochi") is Afrikaans slang for "female convenience shopkeeper of Islamic faith who usually wears a headscarf" (thanks, Bernie & Esther!). Or as Chantal succinctly put it, she's more likely to be "the babbie's wife" (babbie, being the male shopkeeper). And as Bernie pointed out these days some men (of any profession) also refer to their wives/girlfriends as their "motjie". hehe
Here ends today's lesson on Cape Town. Oh, how I miss you!
Los Mochis is a stop-over to the Copper Canyon so even though we'd just spent an eternity on a bus, we decided to push on to El Fuerte for another hour or so. But not before trying the local speciality, "burritos de machaca" - stewed and shredded beef in a tortilla.
Belman and his friends, Manuel and Christina, let us squeeze us into their car with our mochilas grande (big backpacks) and kindly dropped us off as the other bus station. Thanks for the Mexican hospitality, amigos! ;) Feliz Navidad y Nuevo ano!
