Spotting Hostel Guerrero across the road from where the bus stopped was like seeing an oasis in the desert. An oasis to rest our weary bones.

While checking in and getting orientated I overheard something about Vodacom. Vodacom? Saffas? Must be! That's how we met Jonathan & Annie who live in London, another thing we had in common. They too are travelling throughout the Americas except they are nearing the end and are working their way northwards. They're the first Braffas we've met doing a similar journey. Their trip started in January this year in Antarctica! Hmmm, Antarctica... *strokes chin*

The town of El Fuerte has a certain charm to it. Its name is thanks to the beautified fort that stands proudly on a hill. It no longer guards the town's folk but instead provides great views from "El Mirador" (the viewpoint) and houses some modern art. The tacos on offer were decidedly average and the champurrado didn't have nearly enough chocolate in it! I guess we'd tasted really good food elsewhere in Mexico so our expectations are high. The locals are very friendly, greeting us in the streets and randomly chatting to us in Spanish. Among others, we chatted to a policeman who welcomed us and was the first to wish us a Feliz Navidad (Merry Christmas).

Oh yeah, Christmas is almost upon us! Where will we spend it? Still, we have no idea where The Road Lees Travelled will take us...
