Noel and Suzie Q negotiated their way through the windy mountains and desert roads for hours on end and got us all safely to Ensenada just after dark. Hoping that Serendipity would smile upon us one more time, we turned down a road with a hand-written board that read: "Playa" (beach).

Anticipation turned to mild anxiety when... we started sliding! Who was it that said: "Why not turn down here? We've got nothing to lose."

Fameless last words! We had everything to gain like getting stuck in the mud, in the dark, no-one within earshot and potentially sleeping diagonally across a deserted road.

But Noel patiently edged back and forth doing a complete 180, and in the last stage Mario and Dee shifted their weight to the back tyres. Eventually and skillfully Noel manoeuvred Suzie Q out of the mud and we were back on our merry way! We rolled down our jeans bottoms and heaved a huge sigh of relief.

The rest of our time in Ensenada was rather uneventful in comparison. Expensive tourist tat priced in US dollars. Probably best visited in summer but for now we were just happy to have a room with aircon to warm ourselves and a deck of cards ;)

It was here that our road trip with Noel and Suzie Q ended. We bid them a fond farewell as they continued their journey all the way to Vancouver. Thanks, Noel, we enjoyed the ride! Buen viaje!
