Fury's Ultimate Adventure
It's a pleasant enough town except this weekend it was crawling with tourists. It was the last weekend before kids returned to school and it seems everyone, their whole family, all their friends and their pets were there. All sorts of vehicles were on the roads causing traffic jams, especially on Duvall - cars (including our rental), bicycles, motorbikes, scooters, bike rickshaws, a 4x4 Chevy (?), even mobility vehicles! We'd driven from Homestead for 3 hours cruising along the gorgeous keys and we really weren't up for more time in the car.
So we got a little orientated, booked our day trip for the following day and scooted right back out of town to a nearby campsite
Awaking to the serenity of the sea, the chirping of birds and the bobbing of boats made it all worthwhile. It's hard to describe but the word "bliss" comes quite close. It was a great start to an even greater day!
We decided to splash out (literally!) on a day of beachbum activities around Key West, living the high life like the rich and famous for one day. You know, the kind of thing you see in music videos. It was called the "Ultimate Adventure" offered by FURY Water Adventures.
First we cruised for an hour while the tunes were pumping and we snacked on a buffet breakfast. Next we snorkelled the coral reef on the Pacific Ocean side where we spotted baracudas, colourful square-headed fish and one jelly fish that made us dash in the opposite direction
Finally we were whisked to the Gulf of Mexico where were split into groups that took turns to:
* parasail - fun and leisurely, soaring in the breeze, not nearly as scary as it looks;
* jet-ski - that was awesome! So exhilirating, especially when speed-demon Mario took over! I screamed like a little girl while he beamed from ear to ear;
* play on the inflatable rock-climbing structure, trampoline and sliding board; and
* have lunch and drinks, alcoholic ones only allowed after the jet-skiing!
We then had two hours to kill before our "free" sunset cruise. So we meandered around town, up and down Duvall street and all along the promenade.
What a fun and memorable day in the sun and sea! It was our first time parasailing and jet-skiing, and we'll definitely do it again in a hurry (budget-allowing!)
