This home wasn't that sweet really, rather dodgy on the whole but an ok place to rest the rump. And my final interaction with the receptionist left a rather bitter taste in my mouth.
Next morning when we checked out the same receptionist was still there. Being empathetic I asked how she managed to stay so chirpy while working such long hours. She said it was thanks to plenty of coffee and a good book. I smiled as I walked out and said out that at least she'll get to go home soon. She dashed out after me and said "That's the point at which you offer to buy me breakfast!"
Er, I don't think so! The cheek of this woman! Trying to take advantage of my niceness. Was this her way of saying that she was expecting a tip? Weren't you just doing your job? I must admit that I hate this excessive tipping culture with a passion. Just about everyone seems to expect a tip. Not just restaurants! And we're talking 15 to 20%!
Why can't U.S. employers just pay their employees what they're due?!
