That's how it's pronounced in Espanol and it means "the jewel".
We visited this posh beach town on a day-trip from San Diego. We found a great little beach with braai spots between the trees, curious sea-side squirrels and surprisingly unsafe looking currents. A notice warned of the dangers but didn't prohibit swimming there. Now if this was the UK... we wouldn't swim in the water at all for health & smafety reasons and... cos it'd be way too cold!

We had little choice but to venture into the multi-directional waters just to cool off. We were baking! Our reward was swimming with sea otters, who are very social and very cute. They swam in the bay all day amongst us humans. It was easy to mistake them for baldies...

Wait! Where'd Mario go?
