The plan for today was to catch the 1pm ferry except for one basic flaw in this "carefully researched" plan. There is no 1pm ferry on Saturdays. It's Saturday? But everyday is a Saturday! The next (cheap) ferry was only 8am the next day so it meant more time to explore Wellington. Local friends weren't available on such short notice but hopefully we'll catch them upon our return.

So we cruised on over to Miramar in the general direction of a LOTR-related tourist trap called "Weta cave" and happened upon a gorgeous scenic drive with very few other cars passing by. We never did make it to Weta cave...

We simply spent the day basking in the warm sun, enjoying the Wellington bay views, the passing yachts/kayaks/fishing boats/bikes, the sound of waves lapping at the shore... Mario whipped up some mussel marinara with the key ingredient harvested from the rocks during low-tide. The sun and moon roofs were open and the curtains pulled back all day, but it was at sunset and beyond that the view became totally awesome. A near-panoramic view of the bay with different shades of bluish-grey with a trillion or more stars in the clear night sky. Earlier we spotted a cove used for diving instruction with off-road parking. The perfect spot for free(dom) camping and the perfect end to a perfect day!
