We got chatting to the other hostel-dwellers. A friendly bloke from Cornwall, Danny, had just returned from fishing and had caught loads of snapper and trout which he offered to us and the two Germans. Score! Without further encouragement Mario whipped up a tomato/onion smoor (relish), battered up the fish and cooked up a storm. Stefan contributed a mixed salad and boiled some kumra (sweet potato) and Katrien did the dishes. Dee contributed too by making several trips to and from the van in the mud and in the dark with mozzies! An awesome meal and great banter
That night we hardly slept. We were waterboarded all night! We don't know anything, really! Drip! Drop! It was clear we had to move the van right away! What a malarky it was! Mud flying everywhere, carrying rocks and stones and planks to create some traction, eventually we had to jack up the wheel! All fun and games!
We rewarded our ourselves with a chilled rest of the day. We went fishing off the pier, but only caught two bait fish. In search of bigger fish to fry Mario kayaked to the middle of the harbour to fish. He got some bites but they got away except one undersized snapper. Nevertheless that night we rewarded ourselves with a soak in the jacuzzi overlooking the harbour and supper at the local pub (one of two). An awesome day all in all, one of the best so far.
