The BBC has an awesome documentary running that can be streamed in HD on iPlayer (only accessible in the UK unfortunately). It shares people's amazing stories of surviving in the world's most challenging terrain such as in mountains and jungles.

People are awesome! In so many different ways.

Traveling lets us experience this firsthand and opens our minds to the myriad of ways to be, to live and to be content. Every day us first world dwellers are bombarded with images of who we should be. What we should do. What we should wear. What we should buy! But the people in this documentary live off nature and have ingenious ways to do so. They live such simple yet full and rich lives. They spend the bulk of their time on the things that's most important to them - survival, family, friends, community - with such amazing spirit and sense of contentment.

And we think we've got it all figured out with our guns, germs and steel?

This documentary also reminded me of how powerful nature is and how totally reliant we are on it. Yet sadly we are so reckless with it. These tribes not only live off nature. More significantly, they live so harmoniously WITH nature. Nature is awesome!

Are we crazy to quit our jobs and go roam the earth? We'd be crazy not to!
