Rich takes the little people out wandering this morning for Taya's nap time and Emma has a cheeky extra sleep.
We all go and explore Pyramid Lake which is just down the road from Patricia Lake where we are staying. Beautiful setting for a stroll and a picnic by the lake. After lunch we play and take photos by the lake, and then watch the boats go by. A small tree gets Dylan's interest and he wants to know why its stuck in the ground, what happens if it gets pulled out, and is it a boy tree or a girl tree, Emma sends him to ask the tree the last question! Its a boy! Honestly, where do they get this stuff from, the toddler brain is truly bizarre. Dylan spots fish from the bridge.
Nap time back at our bungalow for both. Dare we say it but Dylan seems to have settled back into wanting to nap for the last few weeks. He takes his shoes off, climbs into bed, and is out like a light. Nice to know we can have longer days without him needing it but also nice for some down time for us too. Emma takes full advantage and sets off with the camera to walk along the shore of our lake.
She can't get enough of the views and takes a tonne of photos from every possible angle. The huge mountains mirror perfectly in the shimmering lake. It's magical. Hoping for some great shots that look so impossibly pretty that they must have been photoshopped. We shall see. Emma walks the lakeside trail and back up to our little house. Rich then takes his turn by the lake after sunning himself in our little garden. He watches the dragonflies dart around over the lake and rescues one failing one from the water.
We decide to take a boat out into the lake from the jetty of our lake this afternoon and pick a row boat. Togged up with our life jackets we load into the boat and Rich powers us away. So lovely being out on the water in this amazing setting
Dylan and Taya both want to try rowing. Dylan takes some persuading to give his oar back so we don't make much progress for a while. We get right to the far end where we have seen a group of Elk drinking from the water. They all nip into the bushes once we get there. Babies and toddlers are not good accessories for wildlife photography.
Emma rows most of the way back to the jetty as the other three sing and cheer her on. Dylan and Emma play badminton, which consists only of Dylan hitting the shuttlecock and Emma returning it, but its a start. Taya finds it hilarious and giggles away, refreshing as she has been a little whiny this afternoon. Dylan invents a new game of dodge the sprinkler. He throws his ball towards the sprinkler then runs to try to retrieve it before the water sprays back his way. More fun at the playground climbing and sliding, Taya joins in too.
Dinner is ok but the beef is really tough, Dylan gives up pretty quickly, but Taya amazingly pulls and rips her way through chunks of it. These teeth may be small but they certainly work!
Some lovely news emails and messages from home which are always great to receive.
Dylan and Rich head off for some laundry duties. It's been a nice break while Grandma Lizzie took over the duties while we were with them.
The playground, and lake calls, so Dylan and Rich chase each other up the ladder and down the slide, each hesitating at the bottom for the other to crash into them. They then make it to the jetty in time to watch four teenage girls and their mum jump into the lake while we video it on their iPhone. Dylan asks them if it is cold, and when they say it is freezing cold, he then spends ten minutes testing the water and telling them it is warm!
