We are thrilled that little Taya seems to be on the mend, finally. A tough week for her but some light at the end of the tunnel.

Today is our first day inside Bryce Canyon National Park. The gates are only five minutes drive from where we are staying, so a perfect location. We stop just inside the park at a picnic site for an alfresco breakfast in the sunshine. Taya loves her Cheerios and shows off her pretty accurate pincer grip to pick them up.

Dylan decided many weeks ago that he didn't fancy milk to drink in the mornings or evenings anymore. Well he made up for it today with about six cups of it.

We set off for the far end of the park during Taya's morning nap. The scenic drive is only 17 miles long, so we have time to catch some glimpses of what the park holds.

We stop at Rainbow Point at the far south of the park and head to the lookout. Wow, it's incredible! Totally different to anything we have ever seen before. The National Parks we have been to are all so very different making for very interesting viewing. The main feature of the park are hoodoos - pillars of rock which look like giant stalagmites that you get inside caves. Emma thinks they look like where someone has held a dripping candle to form a wax tower. They are left by erosion. They are a multitude of different shades from red to white. It's like something from another planet, quite magical! From here you can see over 100 miles. The same car park also serves another viewpoint - Yovimpa Point, so we wander along to see this view too. We then walk the Bristlecone Loop trail through beautiful pine trees back to the RV.

Lunch and naps for the kidlets in the van whilst the older Kemptons do some reading and planning for the next legs of our USA trip.

After lunch we drive back up through the park, stopping at viewpoints along the way. Agua Canyon has great tall top heavy pinnacles that look like their tops might fall off. Natural Bridge is amazing with a huge arch of rock rising from the forest floor.

Rich is in charge of entertainment as Emma drives, and he has the children howling with laughter, and dancing along to the radio, as he pretends to play the drums and guitar along to the songs. We all can't stop giggling.

The real wows are reserved for our final two stops though. Bryce Point and Inspiration Point. From here you can see the Bryce Amphitheatre and Silent City, it is full of column after column of hoodoos rising high up into the sky. Where they are clumped, they in places look like fairy tale castles. It really is a totally amazing sight.

We spot lots of chipmunks today, and a baby one, which we really like. Squirrel- like but much smaller.

We get stopped quite a bit in America. It's usually Dylan pulling in the crowds as they love his English accent. Today it works in his favour as a lovely couple let him sit on their Harley Davidson. He is totally thrilled.

We comment several times today on how tall and long Dylan looks. He has definitely just had a significant growth spurt. Really shot up.

Back to our campsite for a gourmet surf and turf meal (well kind of) rustled up by the in house RV chef! So lovely to be able to sit outside at our picnic table to eat. Taya's favourite again tonight is the beef; also loving the cauliflower, carrots and jacket potato. So lovely to see her enjoying her food.

Dylan gets to ride the Ruby's Inn Train that he spied yesterday back from the hotel shop. He loves it. Then iPad stories outside on the picnic rug before bedtime.

Tomorrow we plan to venture down into the canyon amongst the hoodoos.
