Moving on again today. Pleased to report that Dylan no longer has a temperature and seems fighting fit. Taya is still being sick and the Kempton Parents have hit an all time lack of sleep low. Come on little girl lets get this thing kicked so we can get back to normal.
Today we are driving from the Grand Canyon to Glen National Park's Lake Powell. It should have been a much shorter journey than it was, but the main road between the two is being fixed, so we need to take the long way round
First stop is Cameron Trading Post about an hour and a half into the journey. It's big shop with loads of American Indian arts and crafts and tourist souvenirs. We decide to stop here for some lunch which turns out to be a good call as the food is really good. We all share a Quesadilla and a Navajo Taco, which is an enormous doughy bread- like circle mounded with fried beans and cheese. All very yummy.
Back on the road for a couple of hours before we arrive in Page and get our first glimpses of Lake Powell - stunning! We are staying at Wahweap, at an RV site which is at the far south if the lake, just within the boundaries of Glen National Park. We have a view of the lake from our pitch.
Dylan is disappointed that we haven't got any flying Dumbos here (oh the mind of a toddler), but soon perks up when we wander down to the lake shore which has a great little beach area. We weren't sure what to expect, so haven't brought any swimming things, but Dylan is undeterred. Trousers off and straight into the water. His top stays relatively dry for all of about five minutes, then he's soaked head to toe, having a great time splashing around in the warm lake with a stick he's acquired. It's hot, hot, hot again so we are pleased to have a full hook up for our aircon. We've decided it's a luxury we really can't be without in these temperatures, so we have upped the accommodation budget per night until we head further north, and it cools down.
Lots of jobs tonight. We have sooooo much washing to do generated from little Taya. Never thought a washing machine would feel like a luxury item. It most definitely is needed with a sick baby. The blog is three days unpublished due to no wifi in the forest where we have been staying. We still write it each evening, so it just needs publishing and photos uploading. Then we need to make a plan for tomorrow at Lake Powell. The jobs of the travelling parents are never done.
Nice day, and looking forward to seeing more of this beautiful place.
