Not the best night as the lurgy persists, yet more washing. The little lady didn't do too badly between episodes, but mummy Kempton was up all night worrying about her. Taya has a lie in and seems much perkier when she wakes, so we decide to chance a walk at the national park.

We set off up the road and have a quick breakfast when we arrive at the park. We take the shuttle bus all the way to the last stop as Dylan entertains the people on the bus with his chat, and Taya charms them all with smiles and waves. Em and Rich keep their fingers tightly crossed that Taya isn't sick on anyone. We make it, drama free, to the Temple of Sinawava bus stop, or the temple of the last stop as Dylan called it.

On the itinerary today is the Riverside Walk, which is a really easy 2 mile paved stroll in stunning scenery. Dylan decides that his legs work better today and walks a bit more giving Rich a rest. Dylan is fascinated by the friendly squirrels along the route and he tells us what each of them might be up to - "chasing his friend", "looking for food", "going for a swim".

The crisp, clean river water flows down the canyon, and the rocks tower miles up into the sky next to us. We stop part way along to throw stones into the river which Dylan enjoys, and it gives us the chance to appreciate the scenery.

At the far end of the walk there are people paddling in the river so Dylan whips his shoes off and is straight in to join them. At this point the pavement stops, and the serious walk, called the narrows, begins. People are heading off into the water wading up the canyon. Rich and Emma would love to do some of this walk where further along the canyon walls virtually meet as you walk through, but needs must, and the little people are the priority of course.

After naps we return to the campsite. Dylan, Rich and Taya are ejected from the RV to play, whilst Emma takes the beast to stock up on food in the local town. Everywhere we have been food shopping so far someone packs our bags. Today he wanted to bring the shopping to the car and return the trolley. Emma declined but, in hindsight, has no idea why. What great service.

Dinner outside at the campsite, and some dry solids for Taya which she enjoys. Quick bedtime for Taya, whilst the boys head off for a swim and a shower. Dylan is beaming on his return having done "half a whip all by myself". Wonder if he could make the whole width with a push off from the side?! Dylan and Rich talk about travelling and Dylan enquires about the trip from here. "Where are we going after America?", to Canada, "and then where", back home to London. "Maybe we could ask mummy if we could go somewhere else after that too, but only if I can bring my tractor and Mater this time".

Last load of washing to do this evening. This afternoon on collecting the previous load, Rich discovers the pillows missing! After a bit of checking with the guy behind reception a sign is erected asking the 'borrower' to return our goods. A casual comment to the girl behind reception this evening gets some proper thinking involved and the said pillows are found in the house keeping cupboard. Rich is a little reluctant to state this this evening, but if you want some better thinking and quality service, ask a lady!!

Praying for a good, illness free night. We are off to the Grand Canyon South Rim tomorrow. We have thoroughly enjoyed our four nights at Zion, the campsite has been fabulous, the weather gorgeous, and the national park spectacular.

What a treat! I was wondering what happened to our traveling family!!!
Needles to say I loved the Las Vegas parts because it really is amazing what they have done there in the middle of the desert. All those hotels are each one an adult disney world on it's own.
We also walked and walked with our mouths wide open!!!
Amazing to hear how well the little people are doing!!
Dylan will never b the same again..
Life after this trip will b boring!!!!

Wow!!!! I just love reading all about this adventure and feel as though we are on it with them? It must take up a lot of your time editing and sending but it's much appreciated. It must be so hot for the little ones so its good they can cool off in the pool. The Phil & Ted prams are amazing, took a bit of getting used to but once I passed the driving test it was great!!! I would have thought they would have had them in the States. I am sure you are both getting really exited now and counting the days rather than the weeks until you meet up with them. I can just imagine there will be little sleep. Dylan's vocabulary can only be amazing learning words he would not normally learn at this age if they hadn't been travelling. Emma & Richard you are very brave doing this trip and we think its wonderful, you are doing a great job as I know it's not always easy travelling with little ones but its a great education for you all and also for us back here in Hermanus who enjoy being on the journey with you.
