Happy 37 year Anniversary Grandma Lizzie and Grandad Ian :)

We wake up this morning after a decent sleep for all with a renewed sense of adventure and, thankfully, and more importantly, humour. Nobody fell out of bed which was a bonus. Nice long FaceTime to South Africa to start off the day. Breakfast was lovely with Taya in her new highchair and we took our time settling properly into the van.

We haven't left too much time to explore LA but we will be back at the end of our US stint so can tick off a few more things then. Rich did a great job of driving the RV (recreational vehicle) around the residential streets near Hollywood so we could see some of the big houses. We saw the Hollywood sign and drove up Hollywood Boulevard. The Hollywood Walk of Fame consists of more than 2,400 five-pointed terrazzo and brass stars embedded in the sidewalks along fifteen blocks. That for today was our whistle stop tour.

We drive south to Anaheim to Anaheim Resort RV Park which is home for the next three nights. The soul purpose of our stay here is a two day adventure to Disneyland California, or Mickey Mouse's house and playground as Dylan calls it. We have a two day pass - one day at Disneyland Park and the other at Disney California Adventure Park. All very excited.

We park up next to the most enormous RV you have ever seen which makes ours look positively tiny. Rich has to get out to take a snap.

Rich and Emma set up while the children play cars together. It's a lovely sight to see them enjoying each other's company and passing cars backwards and forwards to each other, with the occasional chew from Taya.

This afternoon is spent in the pool at the RV park in the glorious sunshine. We have been in the water a lot since but our last time in a pool was in Tasmania, so it's been a little while. Dylan has an absolute ball and swims really well. He leaps in from the side then swims to us several metres away. We help him up to breathe, then send him back on his way to the steps to climb out, and repeat, repeat, repeat. Taya also loves her little underwater swims and splashes around with vigour. We love watching them giggle together as we fling them up into the sky.

Back at the RV (we must call it this since we are in America) we eat crab cakes and rice outside for our dinner. The boys have an expedition to Walmart for a few bits and pieces. Dylan acquires a new fridge magnet with his beloved Mickey on it. He wants to take it to give to Mickey tomorrow. Dylan has not been a big fan of characters previously. In fact he has been positively petrified, Rupert the Bear at Centre Parcs is still remembered, and not too fondly. Dylan says he thinks Mickey will be "ok, and much nicer, as he is not that big", we shall see how it goes.

Bedtime is a little smoother but still not nailed. The van is a little too bright and exciting.

G and G! on

Thanks for your good wishes Kemptons.
As you know we are home now from 5 great days in Cape Town.
It's supposed to be Winter, but mid 60s here so no complaints at all.
We love it!

I just love reading these stories.
The picture of Dylan with the palm trees in the background is great .
Dylan is going to really enjoy being in the RV.

Bursting to hear about Mickey & Friends. Hope 2 days without the daily blog is simply because you're all Disney-ed out and not because you've been kidnapped to be Seven Dwarves understudies. Missed my nightly dose of armchair travelling. Looking forward to the next instalment. Love from me and Grandad John XX
