Today we went to Haleiwa town which is about a 15 minute drive from our house. There are some lovely shops selling surf gear (of course), and lots of local crafts. The boys both needed new flip flops as daily wear has taken its toll. An amazing selection of diddy flip flops for the little man, not like the UK, where we struggled to find any at all. Supply and demand obviously. Dylan also took a shine to a Gorilla, a mascot of the brand Sun Bum, which he found in the Quicksilver shop. He was delighted when we found a little one in another shop which we bought for him. It says on the label "rub my tummy for sunny days and big waves". Well it certainly worked today.
After naps we went back down to our beach, but this time a little further on to find some warm pools of shallow water created in the sand
Home for dinner - homemade (not by us) lasagna and jacket potatoes for all. Taya is doing really well with her food, particularly breakfasts and dinners. Lunch always seems to be a bit more of a rush for us unless we have a picnic made up. We smile at how far she has come in a few short weeks and how enjoyable it is to all sit down and eat dinner together as a family.
The boys head out to the beach after dinner to play bat and ball, watch the last surfers, and watch the sunset (or go splash into the ocean as Dylan described it).
Our little man is growing up so incredibly fast. Showered by himself for about half an hour tonight which is normal now and 'read' himself his own bedtime story on the iPad. Then for the last week he has asked to go straight to his bed by himself at nap time. No cuddles first, he just runs over to his mattress, lies down, puts his thumb in, waves Ellie round in the air for a bit, and goes to sleep. Tonight the same at bedtime. We will miss our bedtime snuggles with him. Slow down little man, next you'll be wanting to cook your own dinner.
