A day to relax and sit down a bit today. We can't believe we have been travelling for 50 days already, although a quick flick back through the photos we can believe it, wow we have done so much.
Pancake stacks for breakfast - yummy! We best not have those everyday we are in America! This morning we just hung around the hotel room - we can hardly believe we just wrote that but some playtime and sitting on a sofa is a quite a novelty in our lives currently, so we made the most of it.
Lunchtime naps for the three youngest Kemptons whilst Rich went in search of something better for Taya to chew on - she has destroyed, or we have lost, other teething toys on the way and are in desperate need of a restock
This afternoon we explore our surroundings. The Hilton Hawaiian Village complex is just next door to our hotel, so we have a look in some of the many shops there. We then wander past a water feature and Dylan points out a huge fish, then he spots a penguin, Emma raises her eyes slowly expecting to see a statue. Oh no, they actually have three penguins just standing at the back of the pond! We spend a while watching the turtles swim around and Dylan calls them over to see him. Exploring the hotel pool, Emma picks out one of the 999,999 questions we have been asked already today, "mummy why has that lady got a pineapple on her back?", Emma is thinking, 'come on', even that's a bit far fetched for Dylan's crazy imagination......."a pineapple? I don't think anyone.....", "oh yes, look at that, that lady has a lovely pineapple tattoo on her back"!!! "Mummy I think she likes pineapples". Never a truer word spoken! Tired of toddler questions, if the question is not sensible or is just a why, why, why response to our answer, we use the answer "Kiki" or occasionally "rhubarb". We must sound ridiculous walking down the street chanting why - Kiki, but it's entertaining us.
We finally find a trolley bus that isn't a private charter. Because we don't know where we want to go, the driver decides not to charge us, then proceeds to get up and remove people from the seats that are reserved for people with young children. Wow, you don't get that service in the UK. The Trolley bus takes us down the major Waikiki shopping streets and Boulevards. The place is swimming in major brand shops and enormous hotels.
Family dinner at our hotel bar again, Dylan orders his new favourite food - Chicken Quesadilla. He preferred it to last nights prawns which were "nice but erm they had tails and that's just silly!". Taya was entertaining the local birds, which look like little grey doves, as she dropped some food, she really enjoyed looking at them. Dylan went to question the singer about what he'd be playing tonight. He asked if Dylan had any special requests. Dylan picked Baa Baa Black Sheep, we hope the crowds enjoy that one later.
