A scenic start for Rich and Taya this morning as they watch the sun rise over Sydney Opera House. She had slept for nearly 12 hours, and it is a beautiful sight, so no complaints here.

All packed up for another day trip today. This time we explore the northern suburb of Mosman, and in particular, Balmoral Beach, which fronts Hunters Bay. It's a ferry and a bus ride away from Circular Quay. We are loving the ferry system; such a lovely way to travel. Perhaps we should use the boats more in London.

We jump off the bus eager to see the beach. Wow! its a cracker, and almost completely empty. We met an Australian family on the boat who couldn't understand why we would want to go to the beach on such a cold day - its 23 degrees, and an absolutely gorgeous day, perfect for the Brits! Today we have 4 x swimming things with us, and Emma can't wait to get into the water. The water is so calm and clear again. It's pretty chilly on entering. We found that the inching in technique worked pretty well. Once totally in, the water was lovely. Both children have a dip and a play. Dylan thinks he is "freezing" when he gets out so Rich takes him jogging up the beach. He best toughen up or he's not going to know what's hit him when we take him in the sea in the UK. We all love the beach and enjoy our morning play time.

Another picnic lunch on a sunny bench in our swimming things. Rich takes a pew up on the wall to watch the world go by, and Dylan waggles his finger at him telling him to be very careful up there. Taya is attracting smiles sitting eating crackers and hummus by herself. This place is full of ladies with babies. There are big groups of them sitting under shady trees chatting with their friends. Emma wishes her NCT meet ups were able to be in such amazing places.

Nap time success today as Rich and Emma stroll up and down the shoreline. What a perfect place for a pram push, just lovely. Rich decides that he'd like to visit the town of Mosman even though a lady warns us that the hill is practically vertical. The ascent is quite ridiculous and Rich asks several times who's idea this was!? Rich later admits his enthusiasm was so he could look at the estate agents windows. Once again the houses here are huge and impressive.

Up in Mosman we have milkshakes in jugs in a nice cafe when the children wake up. Back on the bus to Mosman Wharf and the ferry to Circular Quay. Dylan's talking reaches fever pitch on the ferry as he pretends to be the driver, and he makes more friends.

Back at the hostel for a family dinner and speedy bedtimes.

Super, happy day.
