The sun is shining and the harbour area looks beautiful, we like it already. We stroll around Victoria Dock and Constitution Dock looking at the boats. We find a seaplane, or "an aeroplane with boats instead of wheels". Dylan tells us that one day he will fly us in one of those. Yesterday he said he'd buy us each a Ferrari. We think we will hold him to these promises.
We have fun playing with the life-size bronze statues which tell the story behind the 1898-1900 Antarctic Expedition - the first to spend the winter on the ice
Emma and Taya catch some rays on a nice bench with beautiful views of the city, with Mount Wellington in the background, for Taya's lunchtime feed. It reminds Emma of a mini Cape Town. Somedays its nice for the girls to just sit back and relax and grab some peace and quiet in a beautiful location. Nap time for the three youngest Kemptons, whilst Rich is a star and does lots of jobs.
A long awaited FaceTime with South Africa due to time zone differences and a very excited little man pleased to catch up with his grandparents and of course see Grandma's toy car collection. Taya wants to join in the fun too and also has a little chat.
This afternoon we wander to a different area of the city - Salamanca Square, which is full of nice restaurants, bars and pubs. There is also a fountain, too tempting not to stick little hands in a thousand times, then run over to mummy or daddy to dry them on their jeans. We decide on The Squire's Bounty for dinner. Everywhere looks nice, but this has two more things going for it - it's open and has a highchair. We have a really tasty dinner and a great pint each (at nearly £7 a pop) but still struggle to get our heads around the cost of food in Oz. It really has been budget busting. We walk back past the pubs and the docks on the way back to our hotel and watch the city come alive in the evening.
D man pretty much back on form today and has stopped yesterday's impersonation of the Tasmanian Devil!
A thoroughly enjoyable day in a lovely little city with a great feel to it.
