The morning was all about the trams. We took a tram into the city and then picked up the free tourist tram, which does a loop around the city, to get us a little bit orientated. We jumped off in the Docklands area and just wandered and walked around from there. Today we have the pram with us to give our poor shoulders and backs a rest from carrying the little people.
The highlight of Rich's day is that finally after a month away he finds someone to fix his watch, and she did it for free - bonus
The city is big and bustling. Only a few things differentiate it for us from being just another city. The street art is everywhere, pretty random but also fun. The trams are old style and tram stops are just in the middle of the road. They have horse and cart's clip clopping around the city.
It is high rise and busy, compared to Adelaide which is only two stories high so you can never quite judge how far you have been due to no landmarks!
We amble by the river before stopping for a drink at Federation Square. This is our favourite place, interesting people watching. Deck chairs and cushions scattered around. A piano in the middle of the square for tinkering on. Dylan insisted that Emma must dance and jump along to the music he was creating. Oh the things you do with kids! We were going to have a beer but we need a little warming so hot drinks are ordered - we must be losing our Britishness already - starting to feel the cold, even at 15 degrees! Dylan finds a small blue truck and climbs into the drivers seat. Rich and Emma watch from afar as Dylan chats to the owners whilst they unload the boxes from the back, then return to let him know they need to leave now. He hops down quite happily (this would not have been the case if we had asked!).
Dinner back at the hostel. Lovely to sit down with both children for dinner, despite the mess.
