Woo hoo we avoided jet lag on this leg of the journey. So pleased, but we will need all the luck in the world to avoid the next time change - 21 hours, it doesn't even bare thinking about.

Dylan enjoys an alfresco breakfast on our doorstep.

The sun is up for our explore of Robe, we drive a couple of minutes to the sea and Dylan gets acquainted with a beautifully situated playground whilst we enjoy the view. The locals are wrapped up like its winter. It is pretty chilly, but not that bad.

A lot of the day is again spent in the car. We have a nice stop for a really yummy lunch in a lovely cafe, then we plough on hoping to make it to Port Fairy during nap time. Dylan is excellent in the car on the long journeys but Taya likes to be entertained for parts, so Emma goes through her whole repertoire of nursery songs in the back of the car. We pull into a petrol station to fill up only to realise that we don't know what fuel the car takes and the hire paperwork doesn't say. We leave and call Avis on our way to find out. We have 1/4 tank left so we'll be ok for now. By the time we reach the next petrol station the little people have just fallen asleep so we press on. Big mistake. With 16km of fuel left we pull into a town with a petrol pump - it's out of order!!! We quickly realise we are miles from the next town, a little glimmer of hope as we spy a pump - that one's closed. With 4km of petrol in the tank and about 30km to the next town we stop to ask for help from some workmen. One guy calls to his mate to say "this Pom has run out of petrol". His mate responds,  "You mean this fine English gentleman has made a mistake". We exchange AUS$5 for a quarter tank of fuel to get us to the next petrol station. Phew! - disaster averted, what nice people. Ok, lesson learnt, fill up when you can, there are not many petrol stations.

Blah blah blah blah blah, has been the extent of Taya's vocab for the last week or so. She talks quite animatedly like we might understand, but we all just respond with blah blah blah. Today we can definitely hear some ra ra ra's, ba ba ba's and da da da's. Much to Emma's disappointment there is definitely no ma ma ma sound. There is still time before that first word of course, but its not looking greatly promising.

Dylan tells us that all his friends at home are also travelling before they start pre school and that soon he will go travelling with all his friends and the other toddlers. He would also be happy to take Taya.

We finally arrive in our home for the next two nights - Port Fairy. We are staying in the YHA Hostel in town which is in a lovely big old house. Our private room is great and really comfy. We are right in the centre of town and head out for a wander, pick up some supplies, have a browse and grab an ice cream. In hindsight the raspberry sorbet one Dylan chose was perhaps not the best from a washing point of view. Little D, excited, spots a car pulling a boat in town. We discover the boat and car a few roads on and ask the owner if he minds Dylan having a look. We of course meant from the ground, but the lovely man has him straight up the ladder (sticky ice cream hands and all) driving the boat and exploring the bedroom.

Dinner cooked tonight by Dylan and Rich, and we share a table with a Canadian family who are away travelling with their ten year old for a year. They are a wealth of knowledge and keen to share places for us to visit in Canada and America.
