got the 8am ferry from lanta to phi phi. left helen enjoying a fruit juice whilst claudia and i did the rounds of the bungalows. tried the place we'd previously stayed at but the prices were astonomical! finally found a place that wasn't too expensive. back to our usual stressful routine of lying on the beach and slapping on the sun lotion every now and then. went out for dinner at our regular haunt, the bamboo resto just past the reggae bar. green curry (again!) then a spot of pool. carpe diem and cocktails the apache for a boogie. claudia called it a night and me and helen went to hippies til 4.
cloudy today. claudia got chatting to some brit boys in the bungalow opposite when she'd walked back last night so we may have some new dancing buddies
cloudy again today - starting to feel white! need a toasting session by the pool. maybe even a reduction from spf 30 down to 20 is required.... helen spent the morning packing. sent her off at 1pm then there were two... did a bit of mooching round the shops then snooze then out to bamboo. mrs bamboo asked after helen. reckon we'll be eating there every night we're on phi phi. internet session and now off to get a drink (probably non alcoholic)
apologies to everyone for the monotony of the recent thai entries. beach and bars are all i'm good for at the moment. will be back to adventure when we hit new zealand in the new year and are reunited with helen again. hope nz is ready for the three amigos.
took a big decision today... gone from spf 30 down to 20. woah. careful now. had a post card and diary writing sesh on our bench outside the bungalow - good spot to people watch too. played cards with the brit boys then me and c went off for some food. went out to carpe diem. boys turned up and joined us then off to apache for drunken dancing. one of the boys had had one too many and got a bit agro with his mates so we called it a night.
feeling a bit ropey. but at least we don't have to do any last minute christmas shopping and wrapping of presents! hit the beach all day. nice. dinner at bamboo for a super spicy tom yum. reggae bar for pool. played doubles with two of the most dull aussie boys ever. escaped them and headed to carlitos for people watching. carpe diem then hippies. brit boys were there so joined them. me and c danced all night on the beach. she picked up a 22yr old aussie boy called jordan who was wearing a fetching santa hat. it doesn't get much better! both managed to lose one flip flop each so it turns out we will have to do some xmas shopping tomorrow! bed at 5.30 i think. happy christmas.
feeling ropey again. bought super cool flipflops then headed off to moodee beach for some peace and quiet. got the boat to long beach then walked the rest. few people there so just lay in the shade and snoozed all day. tried to send a few xmas texts but no signal. picked up a few sand fly bites though which wasn't part of the plan. had our christmas dinner at an italian. just for a change. could have done wiuth some crackers to make it feel christmassy though. discussed our different christmas traditions. both of us have fathers who drink too much and fall asleep in front of the telly! avoided the brit boys twice and ended up in bed by 11 after just a water in carlitos - a totally alcohol free christmas day for me
pool and reading and sunshine. again. sorry folks. carpe diem and hippies. again. back to our bungalow to find two swedish guys had moved in opposite. they shared some gloog with us which is traditional swedish fortified wine. tasty stuff. bit like mulled wine i suppose. and that did make us feel festive - will have to see if i can get some in ikea!
* forgot to mention the tsunami anniversary. phi phi was hit quite badly but there wasn't much different going on today. before going out we headed to the beach to see lots of lanterns being set off into the sky and then at hippies we all got given a candle to light for a minutes silence before all putting the candles in the beach at the edge of the sea.
pool again i reckon. it's all rolling into one. i could stop writing til i get to nz but you don't have to read it! bamboo for dinner then carpe diem. was falling asleep lying on the beach til a cute black kitten decided to attack me. early night. and alcohol free again if i remember correctly.
now i'm getting bored
pool. got active and walked up to the view point again. got v sweaty. into bed for a snooze. massive thunderstorm, internet session - chatted to kirsty and dan. rubbish weather back home! to bamboo, reggae, carpe diem then an early night.
booked our travel to koh chang on 2 jan. paid for 3 more nights and had to pay a whopping 1200 baht for the compulsory new years eve buffet. grr. will upload some pics later.
again. sorry for the dull entries. pool. beach. bar. bed. and it won't get that much better in koh chang. there it'll prob be beach. bed. ah well. beck and mark are now in nz so i'll have competition to see who can have the most adventures there!out to carpe diem for the thailand fire dancing competition final. then to hippies. talked to vanessa and sarah and some people they'd been climbing with. early night - midnight.
