Deciding to break up my journey south to Singapore I found myself at the historic Malaysian port town of Melaka. Arriving in blazing heat, I headed straight to the Guest House to ditch the bags, greeted by an affable Morroccan with bad teeth, who turned out to be the manager of the place; and over the next few days was eager for me to help him with his visa application for New Zealand.

Staying north of the town centre, I was in close proximity to some excellent Indian out of courtesy I headed out to grab myself an Indian curry. After the delights of Little India in Penang, I was keen to get back on the 'curry train' and had to stop myself salivating before the banana leaf was laid out in front of me.

Having had more than I could stomach I set out to have a look around Melaka, heading first to the Christ Church, with swathes of the floral rickshaws lined up outside, followed by a leisurely stroll to the Maritime Museum, dominated by a replica Portugeuse-style trading ship outside its entrance.
